Verizon wants to compete with Cablevision and Time Warner by wiring up all five boroughs with its new high-speed Fiber Optic TV and Internet services by 2014. FiOS TV is already available in some area in Long Island and upstate; but most of citywide is dominated by these two cable companies.

Since DSL users gradually switch to cable companies for Internet and phone service because of its high speed connection, Verizon pushes hard to get city wired up with its new technology. Better for it and better for us, hopefully cable users can get relief for monthly bill…
