Verizon wants to compete with Cablevision and Time Warner by wiring up all five boroughs with its new high-speed Fiber Optic TV and Internet services by 2014. FiOS TV is already available in some area in Long Island and upstate; but most of citywide is dominated by these two cable companies.

Since DSL users gradually switch to cable companies for Internet and phone service because of its high speed connection, Verizon pushes hard to get city wired up with its new technology. Better for it and better for us, hopefully cable users can get relief for monthly bill…

The price for Blu-ray DVD players slowly decreases in the first quarter of ‘08; but there is no sign of a $200 player yet. Sony, along with other Blu-ray pioneers Panasonic and Sharp, prepares for price drop in coming months. You can get a Sony Blu-ray player at $399 now comparing $999 six months ago.

The question is why there is no single Blu-ray player made in China? According to Sony Electronic, a so-call Blu-ray Associations has not granted the license to any manufactures in China. They’re afraid that cheap Chinese products will collapse global DVD markets. However, an article posted by a Chinese IT website saying at least one of Chinese manufacturer has equipment set up…. If this is the case, this will be the first step for Blu-ray pricing drop.
